ABOUT THE DAY

Theme

Insight Dialogue is an interpersonal meditation practice grounded in core Buddhist teachings that cultivate wisdom and compassion as a path to complete freedom of heart and mind.

Through guided meditations, relational dialogues, and teachings drawn from the Satipatthana Sutta or Four Establishments of Mindfulness (the key discourse for insight practice), Jill will offer us the opportunity to explore how silent insight meditation supports our relational practice of Insight Dialogue.

Note: while the day will include some relational practice, it will not be a classic ID day-long event. It is only open to people who are familiar with Insight Dialogue, either by attendance at the London ID practice sessions or through attending an ID retreat or Interpersonal Mindfulness (IM) course because formal instruction in the six guidelines of ID will not be given.

About Jill

Jill brings a wonderful clarity and sense of humour to her teaching. She began practicing insight meditation in Thailand in 1999, and since then, has lived and worked at various retreat centres and monasteries in the USA, Australia, England, and Thailand. She is a graduate of the IMS/Spirit Rock teacher training program in the USA, under the guidance of Joseph Goldstein and Gil Fronsdal. She spent seven years on staff at the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Barre, Massachusetts, where she is now a visiting teacher. She divides her time between the USA, Australia and New Zealand, teaching vipassana and brahmavihara retreats, and offering ongoing study and practice groups focused on bringing the dharma into daily life. She also leads courses and non-residential workshops exploring the relational practice of Insight Dialogue, as developed by Gregory Kramer and colleagues. Dana

The registration fee will cover the costs of running this all-day. In addition, you will be invited on the day to offer dana to Jill. This is important because she lives entirely supported by the generosity of her students.

Refreshments

Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided, but not lunch. We ask that you bring your own lunch with you so that you can stay in silence over the lunch period.
